Particular attention has been given to how the proposed development responds to the local area. This includes the layout and density of proposed homes, but also the quality, architectural detailing and materials of the existing buildings found within the local area. The local area consists of a large stock of Victorian housing dating from pre-1900 to the early 20th century. In addition, the overriding style and character of the area is residential in nature with houses constructed of red brick with slate or grey roof coverings.
The buildings on site front onto the new proposed roads within the site, which creates a sense of place and visual interest. In addition, careful consideration has been given to the layout and the amenity space of existing residents in properties immediately adjoining the site, to ensure appropriate separation distances are maintained.
